Defense attorney Rudolph Loewenstein fought successfully for a new trial for Eric Ortiz, who was convicted of murder. The motion was granted in part because sheriff’s deputies invoked their rights against self incrimination when questioned about the use of jailhouse a informant in securing an alleged confession from the Defendant.
